China (Log: Anneliese, Samuelsons)

Post by Skye » Sun Apr 01, 2018 7:06 am

Erik Samuelson:
Erik had reached to Anneliese to let her know when his father would be returning to town the day before to give her time to prep what she needed, and the day of he was ready for her at the Waypoint's bridge room when she arrived. He was dressed a little neater than usual in khaki slacks and a long-sleeved grey dress shirt, giving her a nod and a smile as she came through.
Anneliese Gehrant:
Anneliese made her way to the Waypoint and smiles as she sees Erik. She holds a bag and though she's not wearing anything fancy, her tank top is tucked in and her boots have been shined to a mirror finish... or as close to it as she can get. She adjusts her bag and approaches him, wrinkling her nose. "Should I have bought a new outfit?"
Erik Samuelson:
He shook his head, making an 'after you' motion towards the elevator up before following after her. "Nah, you look fine."

He peeked at the bag as they went, smirking a touch. "What'd you make?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
"Thank you. You look really nice, Erik." She hits the button and smirks at him trying to look into the bag. "Bee Sting cake with custard and braided bread filled with stew and cheese. Is your sister overwhelmed with cooking yet?"
Samuelson:
"Thanks." He nodded with a smile, stepping into the elevator when it arrived. "Bee Sting cake, huh...haven't heard of that one. Something with honey in it, I'm guessing?"

"Nah, she was enjoying herself when I talked with her earlier. Wager she'll appreciate the help, though."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I'm actually not sure why it's called that. Maybe it's the Americanized version. It's butter cake with carmelized almonds on top." She nods at that, smiling. "Good on both counts, then. So... I haven't really had a chance to tell you in the last few days...I have a cousin. I hadn't seen her for a while before... everything. She found me. Apparently she found a living grandmother, too."
Erik Samuelson:
Erik's eyebrows went up in surprise at that particular revelation, giving a nod after a moment. "Really...that's great."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"It's a little overwhelming... well, Evony is overwhelming. I'm glad she's here, though. The Oma...I don't know. I've only barely talked to her. She seems...bossy." She shrugs, leaning back against the side of the elevator. "Small favors. At least I have family...besides my pack."
Erik Samuelson:
"Oh? How, if you don't mind my asking?"

He nodded. "Always a good thing, that. And congrats again on the pack bonding going well, by the way. Think I said that before, but it bears repeating."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"Which one? Evony or the Oma?" She nods in agreement and a slow, satisfied smile spreads on her lips at his congratulations. "It does. Thank you. I'm still getting used to it, but I am very glad we got through it."
Erik Samuelson:
"Evony, in this case." He nodded, smiling a touch at her own smile. "Very welcome."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"She's just so enthusiastic and persistent and she puts me up on a pedestal like I'm perfect. I am so not. We both know that." She wrinkles her nose a bit and shrugs. "She's said a couple times that I'm her favorite cousin, which I'm going to nip in the bud... It's just a lot."
Erik Samuelson:
"Ah...can see that getting irritating, yeah." He looked to her at that, pressing the 'door open' button once the elevator reached the floor above so she could head out into the hallway. "You've been doing pretty well for yourself since you got here, though, especially with everything you've been through; have to admire that."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I think so, I certainly try. I'm so not perfect, though. I just work hard, do the best that I can and try to make it up when I mess up. Even that only does so much, though. I think that's a much higher compliment, that I work hard and it pays off. Between her and the pack, though, I don't feel as alone anymore." She walks with him. "How have things been for you?"
Erik Samuelson:
"Glad to hear that." He nodded, although she might notice a brief pause on his side before answering the question. "Been pretty well, overall. We got some word that a high-end Spiral pack may be working out of the Underground in Pioneer Square; Horseman-rhya is having us get some intel together to be able to take them out properly in the next wek or so."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly, studying him as they walk. She tilts her head. "Are you sure you're okay? Was there just intel or was there an attack, too?" Concern colors her tone.
Erik Samuelson:
"Never better." He smiled, the brief blip there and gone just as quickly. "Just intel at the moment; no attack yet that I know of, although someone did see their alpha go into the tunnels not too long ago. There's a whole lot of weird stuff down there, though, so we'll be careful going in."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly again, her brows furrowed a bit. "Well, if you need help, let Iona know. We are up for the fight." Concern is still there, but she smiles at him.
:
Management:
03/31/2018 9:14 pm Anneliese Gehrant has rolled an Perception + Empathy roll (5 dice), getting 5, 1, 7, 5, 1, with a difficulty of 6 on a 10 sided die. Anneliese Gehrant has 1 success.
Erik Samuelson:
She couldn't say what exactly, but something that Anneliese had said or did get through that wall of composure that gave Erik his deed-name. Everything seemed fine now, though...maybe it wasn't that important?

"Will do. Once we get the information we'll be passing it up to the alpha, and I'd wager that he'll be assigning packs to the cause."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods in confirmation at that, still watching him. "I'll be ready when Iona tells us what's up." She pauses, hesitating. "I feel like I owe you an apology... I never seem to say the right thing to you."
Erik Samuelson:
"You don't need to apologize for anything." He looked to her, giving a small smile. "I'm glad you've found happiness here."

With that he opened the door to head out into the city proper, heading towards a car that was parked out front. "My father lives out on Mercer Island, so it'll be about ten minutes from here."
Anneliese Gehrant:
Her brows furrow for a second, but she nods to him. She walks out with him. "Nice. I'm not sure that I've been there." She takes a breath as she walks to the car, setting the bag on the floor in the back seat so that it doesn't move, then sliding in. She waits until he settles as well, turning toward him."You should know if you don't already; you are a large part of that happiness, Erik."
Erik Samuelson:
He looked to her as she got settled in the seat beside him, giving a small nod. "Glad I've been able to do my part."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She watches him for a moment before looking out the windshield. "You have..."
Erik Samuelson:
He got the car going down the road, remaining quiet for a moment before looking back to her. "The fact that you didn't say that when you mentioned the others did...sting a little, I will admit."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She looks at him and tilts her head. "I'm sorry. It's different. With them, it's literally feeling not alone. Feeling someone else breathing or sleeping or just hugging or sitting against eachother. I talk with you more than I do anyone else except..." Her brows furrow a bit and she shakes her head. "No, I talk with you more than I do anyone else."
Erik Samuelson:
He nodded quietly, although he did give her a curious look at the brief pause. "I follow you; definitely a bit of difference betwene over the phone and in person."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"Plus you have boundaries and I respect that." She shrugs slightly, looking out her window. "Sy and Aria have been busy."
Erik Samuelson:
"So I've heard. She's been going out a good bit more as of late, and not just the study sessions with her music teacher. Haven't asked what she's been up to, but she seems to be doing well."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"She gets angry if you ask her about it or kid around with her about it. The other night she went off about choice." She presses her lips together. "Yes, she seems to be. She and Sy are getting close to done on their cabin."
Erik Samuelson:
"...huh." He mulled that over, giving a small nod as they continued eastward through the city. "Good. Know they've been working on it for a while."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"Yes, they have. I'm surprised they've made as much progress as they have during the wet season."
Erik Samuelson:
"Agreed. Then again, if Sylvester is anything he's got perserverance."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She chuckles at that and smiles at him. "He is that. He might be more stubborn than i am."
Erik Samuelson:
"Maybe." He looked to her with a small smirk.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She chuckles at that and smirks back.
Samuelson:
The rest of the drive out to the island went without issue, crossing over the bridge and into a decidedly more upper-crust tax bracket as far as the houses they went by were concerned. Soon enough Erik pulled the car into the driveway for a larger two-story house, the decor simple but upscale enough to match the rest of the neighborhood.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She takes note of the neighborhood, She notices the likely tax bracket and relaxes on the way. She climbs out after he shuts the car off.
Samuelson:
As they emerged from the car the door to the house opened, revealing an older gentleman a few inches shorter than Erik, dressed neatly but carrying himself with the same level of feral nobility that one saw in long-lived Garou, the blood of the Fenris wolf clear in his veins. He looked over the pair before giving a nod, smiling a touch as Erik gave a nod in return.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She looks the man over, trying to be subtle about it. Her demeanor and posture broadcasting respect. Aware they are outside in public, she holds out her hand. "Hello, sir. I'm Anneliese Gehrant. "
Kristof Samuelson:
"Kristof Samuelson." He took the offered hand once the pair was in range to do so and shook it firmly. "Good to finally meet you, Anneliese."
Anneliese Gehrant:
Her grip is firm, but not trying to make a point. She smiles a bit and blushes, looking from him to Erik. "It's good to finally meet you, as well. I hope your business went well? "
Kristof Samuelson:
"As well as could be expected." Kristof nodded, taking Erik's hand and shaking it firmly before escorting the pair inside. The smells of the food already being worked on in the kitchen wafted through and were absolutely heavenly, and the trio could hear a young female voice singing along to some music that was playing in the kitchen.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She retrieves the bag from the back seat and walks in with them, noting the interaction between the father and son. She smiles as she hears the singing, heading that direction. She glances at Erik for confirmation.
Erik Samuelson:
Erik smiled a touch as Anneliese looked towards the kitchen, giving her a nod in return.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She winks at him and goes into the kitchen, humming along and looking over what the younger girl is doing, as well as looking for a place to set down her food.
Samuelson:
The two men moved to take a seat on the couch in the living room, speaking quietly to each other as they started to catch up. In the kitchen, the source of the singing proved itself to be a girl in her late teens, blonde hair and hazel eyes matching quite nicely with her brother's.

She stopped as Anneliese came in, looking her over real quick before smiling. "Hey...I'm Morgan. Guessing you're Anneliese?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles back at the girl, holding out her hand to her. "Yes, it's good to meet you. Would you like some help?"
Morgan Samuelson:
Morgan took the offered hand and shook it firmly, giving a nod. "You too, and sure. Um..." She looked around briefly at the various projects in work to see what needed the help. "Got some carrots that need to be cut. Was going to have Erik do it, but you can if you want."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I'd be happy to. It sounds like he's catching up with your dad." She moves over to the cutting board and carrots, starting to cut them in the steady, rhythmic way that says she's familiar with cutting in general. "I heard you're happy to be back home..."
Morgan Samuelson:
"Yeah...hanging at the Waypoint is cool and all, but I kinda like having my own space, you know?" She looked to Anneliese at that, taking a taste of one of the sauces on the stovetop and adding a little more salt to it. "I'm glad he's back too, though; this was the longest he's been gone in a while."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly, glancing at her with a bit of a smile as she drags her teeth over her bottom lip. "Yeah, it's never easy when they go." She smiles at her and shrugs as she finishes the carrots. "I might be the wrong person to talk about with wanting space, though. I like having a place for my things and I like time to myself, but I don't particularly like space."
Morgan Samuelson:
"Mmhmm. He does good work for the Nation, though, so I can't complain too much."

"Hey, you do you. I like being able to put a door between me and the world now and again, personally. Room to breath and all."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"It is kind of the deal." She continues helping her. "Of course. You get peace through getting some distance, I do by spending time with those that I'm close to."
Morgan Samuelson:
"Not a bad thing." Morgan nodded, taking the carrots and putting them into the salad that was waiting nearby. "What kind of work do you do up at the sept?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
Anneliese glances at her with a smile as they work. "I'm studying to be a midwife, I sew things when they're needed. Have you met Aria or Sylvester? I made each of them a suit for their job. I made them a gambeson each, as well as myself. I made a pair of gloves for your brother... that sort of thing. I also work at a ceramics shop that's owned by one of the Silver Fangs who live at the Heart."
Morgan Samuelson:
"Not yet, no. I know Erik went to go get Aria from her home sept and brought her here, though." Her eyes lit up a bit as Anneliese continued, nodding excitedly. "That sounds awesome..."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She presses her lips together, nodding to her. "She's a lot of fun, a really beautiful singing voice. You'll like her, I'm sure."
Morgan Samuelson:
"Cool." She nodded, smiling a bit. "I haven't been up to the Heart in...probably a year or so, honestly. Think it was summer before last..."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I like it. I like that it's in the middle of the woods and rough. No malls there, though... or places to go to music." She winks at her. "What do you like about the city?"

Samuelson:
"Lot more to do, and I've almost always lived in the city." Morgan shrugged. "Dad usually worked with urban septs for the most part."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"See, I'm exactly the opposite. I've always lived far away from the city... I've enjoyed spending time here, though. Especially the music." She looks over the spread. "It looks like we're pretty done...?"
Samuelson:
"Think so, yeah..." Morgan looked over the various dishes - roast beef with vegetables, a few different sides, the salad and bread - and nodded. "Can start taking things out to the table."

She stuck her head out of the door to the living room, grinning a touch. "Dinner's ready! Bit of help would be nice..."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles at the comment, picking up the nearest large item and taking it out to the table. She continues taking items out to the table until they've all finished and the food is out for everyone.
Samuelson:
The two Fenrir also came into the kitchen to help get the food set up on the dining room table, leaving the deserts in the kitchen for the moment to be served later.

Once the food was set up Kristof moved to take a seat at the head of the table, with Erik sitting at his right. Morgan looked to Anneliese briefly before tilting her head to the chair across from Erik, sitting beside her brother for the moment.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She winks at Morgan, nodding her thanks and takes the place indicated by Morgan. She sits across from Erik, settling there. She glances at the door for just an instant, then looks to how the family goes from here.
Samuelson:
Erik smiled a touch as Anneliese sat across from him, then looked to Kristof as the elder Fenrir bowed his head. A brief dedication to Gaia ensued, followed by thanks for the meal and his own safe return to the home. Both Morgan and Erik nodded at the end, and Kristof motioned for the others to dig in.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles in return to Erik and sat reverent as respect was paid to the Goddess. She nods after seeing the others do it and then starts dishing up as Kristof gives the all clear. "This is good, Morgan. You're a good cook."
Samuelson:
"Thanks." Morgan beamed, fixing a plate and handing it over to her father before working on one for herself. "Kinda thinking about going to school for it once I graduate."

"Still think you should." Erik chimed in, giving his sister a light nudge with his elbow. "You're good."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"It obviously makes you happy. You should." There's a thoughtful look as she smiles.
Samuelson:
Morgan glanced at her father at that, who smiled a touch in return. It had the air of a conversation that had been had a number of times before, with a note of tacit approval from the elder Fenrir. "We'll see."

The young kinfolk smiled in return at that, looking over to Anneliese. "You're pretty crafty yourself, from what you were saying before. Ever thought of setting something up on Etsy or selling your stuff in town?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles in return and shakes her head. "It is really useful, but not really. I'm studying to be a midwife. Between that and work and training, I don't really have time to keep up with something like that. Outs also so involved that I prefer to do it for people I care about who appreciate it. "
Samuelson:
"Gotcha...makes sense." Morgan nodded, taking a bite or two of her food before continuing. "I have some friends at school that do costuming stuff, and I've heard some horror stories about people being jerks about commissions so I feel ya there."

"Who are you training with at the sept currently, if I may ask?" Kristof said, looking over to Anneliese.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles at Kristof. "Of course. With Mends the Rift rhya and Frost Bite rhya."
Samuelson:
"Can't say that I know the latter, at least off-hand." He nodded quietly. "Having the sept alpha as a mentor is notable, however; how did that come about?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She thinks for a long moment, taking a bite as she does. Finally she sits straight in her chair. "In a moment of excitement I let slip information that put my friend at risk, information that Mends the Rift rhya did not want public. I think he initially wanted to keep an eye on me and see what was going on with me. He ordered me to train with him. It's continued because we both enjoy it, I think, and because he is still looking out for me."
Samuelson:
"Ah...I see." Kristof nodded quietly. "A good outcome from less than stellar circumstances; never a bad thing, that."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods to him and smiles, relaxing a bit. "Yes, I think so. Frost Bite rhya is the Alpha of my pack. It feels really good to spend a good portion of my day with people I know have my back."
Samuelson:
"Indeed it does." Kristof gave another small nod, which Erik echoed. "What totem is your pack bound under?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
Her tone is matter of fact, though the disconnect between her appearance and the expectation is not lost on her. "Fenris ."
Samuelson:
The Theurge's eyebrows went up at her answer, eliciting a small smirk from Erik. "Really...most impressive."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods to him, her lips twitch a bit as well as she does. "It wasn't easy to gain his favor."
Samuelson:
"I would imagine not." He nodded, looking Anneliese over anew. "Very well done."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles at bit at him. "Thank you. Our pack knows wher each of us fit, so that helps. "
Samuelson:
"Very welcome. I need to go up to the Heart to let Mends-the-Rifts know of my return; perhaps I can meet this alpha of yours at that point as well."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I'm sure she'd like that. Are you able to stay for a while or are you headed out again soon?"
Samuelson:
"I should be here for the foreseeable future." Morgan perked up a bit at his answer, smiling a touch.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles at Morgan at her reaction, finishing up her food.
Samuelson:
The other Fenrir finished their portion of the meal soon enough as well, with Morgan getting up to help clear the table. "Figure we can cut the cake you brought and bring it in rather than bringing the whole thing out; that work?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She helps her with the dishes, noting the dynamics of the family. She smiles at the girl. "Of course, that works great."
Samuelson:
Erik did get up to help as well, the banter between him and his younger sister light and easy. Their father remained in the dining room area, tidying up in there but staying out of the children's way for the moment.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She relaxes in the familial atmosphere and helps Morgan dish up the cake, enjoying the banter between the siblings.
Samuelson:
Once the cake was divvied up Morgan brought the plates back out into the dining room area, setting them out for the gentlemen before reclaiming her seat with her own slice. "This looks awesome, by the way." She looked to her fellow kinfolks with a grin.
Anneliese Gehrant:
Anneliese helps carry in the plates and sits down as well. She smiles back at her. "Its always been one of my favorites. The crispy caramel on the top is really good."
Samuelson:
"It does look good." Erik nodded, letting the ladies take the first bite before he has one of his own. Kristof took a small bite, nodding with approval.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She enjoys her cake, blushing a bit at their praise as she starts to eat. "So, is the rest of your pack here as well? Or arriving soon?"
Samuelson:
Kristof looked to Anneliese at that, shaking his head after a moment. "I'm not in a pack currently, actually."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly, glancing to Erik, then back to his father. "I hope that wasn't a sore spot. I'm sorry if it was." There were many things that could cause that, some benign... some not as much.
Samuelson:
"It is not, no." Kristof shook his head while Erik gave her a reassuring look. "Since I travel to assist other septs, often for a long period of time, binding myself to a pack was never in the cards."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods in acknowledgement, looking a little relieved. "Then I'm glad you have your family."
Samuelson:
"As am I." The Theurge nodded, looking to his children with a small smile. "They've proved themselves well."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smile at that, looking at Erik again as they all enjoy their dessert.
Samuelson:
Erik looked back to Anneliese with a small smile, tucking into his own desert. Morgan also looked pleased, giving a small nod as well.
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles back at him, taking her time to eat her cake. She resists the urge to move to a more relaxed position.
Samuelson:
The rest of the evening went by well, with the conversation pleasant enough. When the time to head back to the Waypoint came Anneliese got a quick hug from Morgan and a nod from Kristof before Erik escorted her to the car, a container with leftovers in tow.

"I think that went pretty well." Erik looked over to her with a small smile. "You?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She hugs the younger girl back and nods in return to the older garou before walking back to the car. She smiles back at him and nods. "Yeah, I had fun. Erik? Do you mind if we talk before I go back to the Heart?"
Samuelson:
"Not at all." He went to open the passenger's door for her, waiting until she was settled before he went around to the driver's side and got settled there. "What's up?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She settles in, murmuring a thank you. She shakes her head, smiling to let him know it was nothing negative. "I just think we've been misunderstanding eachother. I want to try to clear things up."
Samuelson:
He nodded quietly at that, giving his sister a quick wave through the windshield before pulling out of the driveway and getting the car on the road. "Alright...fire when ready."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"Do you want to wait until we are at the Waypoint?" She tilts her head at him.
Samuelson:
"Up to you. We've got about a twenty minute drive back, but if it's something you'd rather wait until we're somewhere stationary for I'm fine with that."
Anneliese Gehrant:
"I thought it was closer to ten." She shakes her head, it's not important. She chews her bottom lip. "Did I...accidentally invite myself tonight or misunderstand?"
Samuelson:
His eyebrow arched at that, shaking his head. "Not at all, no. I know I asked you if you wanted to come."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly. "I...thought it was a party with friends...not just me and your family. What that tells me is that I am different than them. Am I leaping too far with that logic?"
Samuelson:
"I don't think I mentioned either way if anyone else was going to be there. Probably should have." He gave a little nod, looking her over. "Not sure what you mean by 'different than them', though."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods again slowly, looking out the windshield with furrowed brows. "It's okay, like I said, I enjoyed myself. I'm glad you invited me." She takes a breath, trying again. "When Burns the Night-rhya and I talked, she told you what we talked about... what did she say?"
Samuelson:
"What you told her, for the most part. That you felt like you had messed things up, and that I was treating you like a leper because I wasn't comfortable with casual touch." He looked to her at that. "It is true that I did put some space in between us on purpose, mainly because...I needed it at the time."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She looks back at him, her brows furrowed a bit as she studies him. "The last I stepped back from almost as soon as I said it, though yes, I felt that way. Today has given me a little insight into that as well. In my family, we did casual touch all the time, in yours, it doesn't really seem like that's the case. Back then, it seemed like you were trying to get me to say something, then you reaffirmed that you wanted to be friends. Just friends."
Samuelson:
"Because I wanted to get to know you better." He nodded quietly. "And I've had the chance to since then, which I've enjoyed personally; hoping you have as well."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly, her brows furrowing more. "Okay. Yes, I have. The thing is, I feel like we're in this tug of war where one or the other of us wants more, but doesn't say it. I've felt a few times like you're trying to lead me to say something or do something that you won't do yourself. After... well after everything, I'm not going to make the first move because with you that always makes things worse." She takes a deep breath, still studying him. "You won't make the first move, either...and now I have a pack. I don't want to lose that. So, to be clear, I enjoy being friends, but there will never be more than that. I know you didn't ask, so I am being pre-emptive." She presses her lips together and swallows.
Samuelson:
He went quiet for a long moment, although there was no exterior sign of anger or anything of the like in his features. Eventually he nodded, keeping his eyes on the road. "I wouldn't want you to lose that either, now that you've found a family again."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods slowly, still studying him. "Okay." She takes a deep breath, falling silent.
Samuelson:
"I respect your decision." He gave another small nod, sitting back a bit in the chair. "And I'm alright with just being friends."
Anneliese Gehrant:
She nods again, swallowing. "Thank you."
Samuelson:
"You're welcome." He looked to her with a small smile. "What kind of friend would I be otherwise?"
Anneliese Gehrant:
She smiles a bit at that, studying him. "Good point."
