Pride and Pain [Log: Horseman, Jesse]

More of an outpost to the Emerald Heart than a sept in its own right, the caern known as the Emerald City Waystation acts as the major moonbridge hub for the city as well as the normal stomping grounds for the city's more urban wolves.

Set after Nefarious Plans

Jesse Wisse
She came strolling through the door pretty late at night after getting off work, once inside she pulled off her shoulder holster and locked it up and then off came the shoes.

Alexander Blackwood
Alexander was sitting in the living room as she made her way into the apartment, looking up from the book he was reading. He smiled when he saw her, sliding a book mark into the book and setting it aside as he got up from the couch. “Hey. Things go alright at work?”

Jesse Wisse
She smiled back a bit and took a seat next to him. She leaned in to check what he was reading before leaning back and looking him over "It went well enough. What did the alpha say?" She asked never one to stay in small talk when there where issues to be dealt with

Alexander Blackwood
“We agreed on setting up eyes in the building where you work and you staying here for the most part, and having an escort if you do go out.” He retook a seat beside her, looking her over; the book in question was a novel, nothing too noticeable. “He also took me being what he saw as overly calm about this as me not caring what happened to you, which couldn't be farther from the truth. I trust what you're capable of, but that doesn't mean I'm not worried about what HE is capable of, and he's proven himself to be a sneaky little shit.”

Jesse Wisse
There was a slow nod "to be fair, you where kind of cold about finding out about the baby BUT with what was on your plate its kind of understandable. maybe your just kind of a chilly guy" She half smiled

Continuing she said "...at what point did a escourt come in?" She blinked slowly

Alexander Blackwood
“You've given me more of a reason to warm up than anyone else in a long while, if anything.” He smiled softly. “Misha threatened charm lessons with one of the Furies, for that matter...”

“Contingency plan, mostly, and if we end up using you to try and lure him out at some point.” He watched her at that. “Don't think we'll need to, since we should hopefully be able to flush him out, and I don't like the idea of it either way.”

Jesse Wisse
"Suppose there is that" she said a bit dryly. But hearing that Misha had threatened charm lessons with a Amazon made her laugh and shake her head "well. Im not sure this is THAT bad you know, not bad enough to sick the man haters on you"

She nodded slowly "Right...and when I have to go see my people?"

Alexander Blackwood
His smile widened at her laugh, chuckling. "Yeah...can imagine that would be something."

"When it comes to them you've got your guardian angel already, far as I'm concerned."

Jesse Wisse
"Alright" She said. Her nose wrinkling a moment before she said "Id like to train Anneliese on how to fight vampires if her alpha allows it"

Alexander Blackwood
He paused, thinking on that a moment before giving a small nod. "Not opposed to the idea. Honestly, I wouldn't mind you running some of our scouting packs through that training as well, if we are looking at an activity uptick. I remember Lucian mentioning that you can spot one on sight, which is pretty damn handy."

"Although," he gave her a quiet look, "that is only going to be training for the moment and not actively hunting, right?"

Jesse Wisse
"I wouldn't mind" There was a slow nod "Yeah, when I was just a human the group I was with taught me what to look for and then that was hyper enhanced so I can pretty much spot them upon seeing them."

She blinked and eyed him. "Of course Im going to keep hunting them what do you take me for!"

Alexander Blackwood
"Someone with a better head on her shoulders than to purposefully poke a hornet's nest that's already buzzing." He continued to watch her. "I don't have an issue with you dealing with them as you come across them, but I would ask that you not hunt them down specifically for right now."

Jesse Wisse
"They poked a hornets nest" She said firmly watching him. She leaned back against the couch and folded her arms over her chest. "or did you forget that. "

Alexander Blackwood
"I didn't, no. Just saying that attacking them indiscriminately may get something sent after you that's got more of a spine then the little bootlicker that came to the hospital. That, and I know that Pretty Boy and his people saw what happened at the junkyard, and if you go out alone they may get a hold of you before you can get to the hospital or we can get to you, and I don't want that to happen."

Jesse Wisse
"What part of hunt is indiscriminate?" she asked eye balling him. Her nose wrinkled at the the mention of pretty boy "Is our quarters watched by the pack or anyone else?"

Alexander Blackwood
"I know you keep your discretion." He eyeballed her in return. "You don't know how they're laid out here yet, though. Hell, we don't know that, not entirely. I have no issue with taking these little Wyrm-tainted bastards off the streets, don't get me wrong, but I'd want you to do it with all the information you can have."

"No, and our security is being stepped up thanks to those letters. We think that the announcing howl I did for the spirits at the sept may have been found out about, hence why you started getting the letters not long after it happened."

Management:
Jesse Wisse has rolled an teleli diff 6 -2 for gnosis diff 4 roll (3 dice), getting 3, 2, 10, 2, with a difficulty of 4 on a 10 sided die. Jesse Wisse has 1 success.

Jesse Wisse
"I have enough information" Her tone was going a bit colder then he had heard before. But what was worse, was her eyes did a full on glow of angel blue/white and he could see those shadow wings where visible behind her. Oh she was mighty pissed about this conversation.

And the he was no longer looking at her. With a touch of ozone in the air she no longer was bloody where he was looking

Alexander Blackwood
"Jess..." He sat up straighter as the glow started in her eyes, frowning. "Give me a-"

And then, she vanished. "God damn it, Jess!"

He got up from the couch and pulled his phone, scenting the air to see if she was still somewhere in the apartment.

Jesse Wisse
With his phone out and scenting the air he caught a glimmer of her against the bedroom door frame. Her eyes crossed and arms folded leaning neatly there.

And while the eyes where still glowing she had a satisfied smirk on her face which she quickly went to some what neutral "Mic drop!"

Alexander Blackwood
His eyes snapped towards the motion by the door, the initial irritation at her vanishing fading into a look of exasperation and thankfullness that she was actually still there. "Enjoy that?"

Jesse Wisse
"No. Just proving a point" She didnt move. "I know how to run away and i know how to be effective in doing so should I need to. This is not limited to line of sight, I can go to where Rachael is, you are, or fucking China if i wanted..."

Alexander Blackwood
"Good to know." He nodded quietly, taking a breath before he continued. "You do get why I'm concerned, at least?"

Jesse Wisse
She sighed "Yeah, cant use me as bait if I am dead because I go head first into a nest of vampires that you clearly think i am stupid enough to do"

Alexander Blackwood
"Not at all." He moved to approach her, resting a hand on her shoulder if she let him. "It's because I know that you know what you're doing but there are some things here that can still surprise you, and I don't want it to be one of those things that takes you away from me."

Jesse Wisse
She looked up at him, her eyes still having that faint glow to them. "There are two that are alive after attacking me. I want those two" She said firmly.

And then she doubled over in pain, her knees buckling.

Alexander Blackwood
"Alright. I can see what information the spirits at the junkyard can give on where they may be- " Whatever was coming next cut off mid-sentence as she doubled over, the Theurge grabbing her to keep her upright. "Jess?"

Jesse Wisse
Keeping her upright was clearly going to be a chore as her head fell back, he could see blood starting to gush from her nose and then her body started to jerk as a siezure set in.

Alexander Blackwood
He went into full medic mode on reflex, getting her down and on her side as the seizure started in earnest. Concern was writ large in his features, looking her over to see what the hell might have caused it and readying the Mother's blessing to be used in short order.

Management:
Alexander Blackwood has rolled an Int 4 + Med 3 (+WP) roll (7 dice), getting 2, 3, 7, 8, 7, 7, 8, with a difficulty of 6 on a 10 sided die. Alexander Blackwood has 5 successes. This roll did not use the 10-again rule. Ones subtracted from the successes of this roll.

Jesse Wisse
He knew there should have been a cause. Knew it. Knew it deep in his damn bones. And yet for all his knowing he should know, he had no idea what caused it. Nor did he know why from her temple down her throat her skin was turning blue black with bruising. He could see through the slits of her eyes the whites turning red from broken blood capularies.

Laying down her legs moved a bit trying to find purchase against the floor she was on and her back arched. He could hear her joints cracking and poping.

Management:
Alexander Blackwood has rolled an Mothers Touch (Int 4 + Med 3) roll (7 dice), getting 1, 3, 2, 1, 7, 8, 9, with a difficulty of 6 on a 10 sided die. Alexander Blackwood has 1 success. This roll did not use the 10-again rule. Ones subtracted from the successes of this roll.

Alexander Blackwood
As the fear climbed he did his damndest to shove it back into its hole, the hand holding her upright on her side acting as a focus for the Mother's Touch. Gaia willing that would stabilize something...

Jesse Wisse
He could see that it did nothing. He knew it should have done something. But it did nothing.

As all siezures eventually ended so too did hers. The shakes started to slow down until she was still. Her shirt was definately ruined due the still flowing gush of blood from her nose but it looked like that too was slowing down, He could see her features start to indicate that she was coming to, but confusion was writ on her face and she let out a low moan

Alexander Blackwood
He did what he could with what he had on hand, swapping out gauze as fast as he could to stop the bleeding from her nose. When she started to come to she could feel his hand on her arm, the grip strong enough to keep her on her side but with a clear tremor.

Jesse Wisse
Her brows came together "Where...am I?" She asked and tried to turn her head to look up at him "What happen..?" She felt him holding her down and wasnt entirely sure why, and he could see that. But she also felt the trembling so didnt fight it. Which for people who really knew jesse knew that what happened had startled her enough that she didnt fight even her mate to get up from being held down.

Alexander Blackwood
"At the Waypoint, and I don't know." After a moment he shifted his grip to help her sit upright, concern clear in his features. "You started seizing and bleeding from the nose out of the blue, and the usual gifts didn't seem to work..."

Jesse Wisse
She didn't move. She just lay there letting her mind spool up. She breathed in and asked with a shaky breath "baby?"

Alexander Blackwood
He gave her shoulder a squeeze, taking a breath and letting it out slowly as he tried to stop the shaking in his hands. It finally would after a bit, looking her over. "We'd have to get you down to the med bay to check."

Jesse Wisse
With shaky movements she rolled over and started to get up. It was not easy and she clearly was going to have issues doing so "then...we go" her voice held a note of terror in it. She was more afraid of losing that baby then facing those vampires or pretty boy.

Alexander Blackwood
He nodded, helping her to get up and on her feet as a quick burst of mental traffic went across the pack bond. "They should be ready by the time we get down there."

Before they started moving, though, he took a moment to hold her close, eyes closed as he breathed her in through all the blood. "That scared the shit out of me..."

Jesse Wisse
That seemed a bad idea, to let her walk. Her knees kept buckling but when he held onto her he had to hold her up right but damn it all if she wasnt going to try to walk there. Obviously the girl had a hard time asking for help. She held onto him as he held onto her "come on, need to find out" She said, her tone still not normal. She paused and said "if..we lost it...its my damn fault"

Alexander Blackwood
After the embrace was relaxed he scooped her off her feet in one smooth motion. His eyebrow arched a bit at her comment, though, heading towards the door of the apartment. "How so?"

Jesse Wisse
"if we arent careful about what we do, we get hit with a back lash. Can be, as you saw pretty nasty that while that was pretty nasty its not as bad as it could be. Ive seen people die because they over extended themselves. Actually the guy at the keyboard after we went to the base? He died because he over extended himself, he tore his mind part" She chewed her lower lip and leaned against him "I had...things work different here" she said almost in a whisper as if to say in her defense

Alexander Blackwood
He nodded slowly, kissing the top of her head lightly before they headed out into the hallway most ricky tick. The few folks that were about on this floor parted like the red sea, clearly surprised.

Jesse Wisse
She was chewing her lower lip and said softly "What are we going to tell them happened? I dont want them to think that you and I got into a fight"

Alexander Blackwood
"That won't be an issue. We can say what happened, don't have to say the why." Off to the elevator they went, pressing the button for the first floor once inside. "I'm more worried about you both being okay at the moment."

Alexander Blackwood
Once the elevator door opened onto the first floor Alexander made his way down the halls to the medical bay in double-quick time, Jesse held securely in his arms. For the moment he paid no mind to the few others walking the hall other than to move around them; getting Jesse and the little one looked over was the important thing.

Jesse Wisse
She curled up tight against him and reached up to put her hand on his shoulder. He felt her tremble in his arms and even once or twice heard a low whimper come from the woman. She didn't want to relive this again..

She blinked and her brows came together: relive it? He heard her breath in a short breath and sign she might start to hyperventilate. Yes, she was terrified.

Alexander Blackwood
"It's going to be okay..." He said quietly, getting the pair of them through the doors of the med bay most ricky tick. A trio of Kinfolk staffers were already on hand, with one looking shocked at Jesse's state before they went into business mode as Alexander got Jesse laid out on one of the beds. "Get the sonogram rig set up."

Jesse Wisse
His words seemed to clam her a little and she nodded, whispering "Okay" Oh god if that trust was misplaced? She shoved the thought aside and shifted as he lay her on the bed. "Can i get something to clean my face too?" She asked almost softly

Alexander Blackwood
Alexander nodded, looking to one of the Kinfolk to do so as he stayed at Jesse's side. One of the other Kinfolk focused on checking her vitals while the other got the equipment the alpha had requested set up. When the dampened cloth and bowl of water was brought over the Theurge moved to start cleaning her up, unless she made motions that she wanted to handle it herself, of course.

Jesse Wisse
She was going to do it but when she saw that he was, she let him have that kindness. She did reach out and put her hand on his side though just to touch him.

The other hand unbuttoned her jeans and lifted her shirt knowing how this went before they could really start her vitals. Then just went still. Her vitals seemed a little elevated but considering she just had a siezure, bloody nose and was worried it made sense.

Alexander Blackwood
Alexander gave Jesse a small smile as she put a hand on his side, tending to the blood as the others worked. Once the sonogram was ready it was rolled over, the Kinfolk prepping Jesse's stomach before putting the wand into the proper position to see what there was to see...

Jesse Wisse
And there was nothing.

She looked over at the tech, and Alexander could feel her tense. However, first time does not mean no baby. So she watched as the wand was moved around, moving goop all over her stomach. Then it started. The whorl of a helocopter, the fast little healthy sound of a passanger still in the womb. Jesse stretched her neck a little and blinked. "Yep thats a baby" She said

The screen showed a little peanut with arms wiggling around, and as the tech measured the length of the little one they where finally able to let Alexander and her know the heart was good, brain looked good...and she was almost 10 weeks along

Alexander Blackwood
Alex relaxed visibly as the sonogram picked up the little passenger, putting a hand on Jesse's shoulder and giving it a squeeze before leaning over and kissing her cheek lightly. "That it is..."

Jesse Wisse
Well she was clearly relieved. She sighed "Good. um now ..what?" she asked curiously. Clearly they had a arguement to finish.

Alexander Blackwood
"For now, you rest." He gave her a quiet 'please don't argue with me on this' look, taking her hand and giving it a quick squeeze.

Jesse Wisse
She didnt argue. She wouldnt in front of his people. Her fingers wrapped around his hand and she half smiled "This mean your carrying me back too?'

Alexander Blackwood
"That was my plan, unless you feel up to it." He smiled in return before looking up to the Kinfolk and giving them a nod. "Thank you."

A choir of "you're welcome, sir" came in short order, followed by the trio started getting things cleaned up. Alex looked back to Jesse, ready to slide his arms under her once she was ready.

Jesse Wisse
"I kind of liked you carrying me" She smiled sheepishly, which might seem sweet to the other kin. She curled up against him when he picked her up and offered a thank you as well

Alexander Blackwood
He took a moment to make sure that his hold on her was set as he gave the trio a nod and headed out into the hallway, letting out a slow breath before he looked down to her. "How are you feeling?"

Jesse Wisse
"Like I just lost a fight" She said a little grumpy. But hugged him tighter. She looked up at him and looked him over "Your very handsome when your in that get the fuck out of the way mood"

Alexander Blackwood
He smirked at that, leaning forward a bit to leave a light kiss on the top of her head. "Thanks."

Jesse Wisse
"we will talk when we get back to the apartment okay?" She said and leaned her head against his shoulder.

Alexander Blackwood
"Alright." He nodded quietly, carrying her to the elevator and back to the apartment upstairs in short order. Once inside he looked her over. "Bed, bath, or back on the couch?"

Jesse Wisse
"If you put me in bed it better be for Snusnu" She smirked and said "Couch or bath, we need to finish this conversation"

Alexander Blackwood
"Bath, then. Red is a good color on you, but we should probably get the rest of that blood off." He smirked a touch, carrying her to the bathroom and helping her sit on the tub to get her out of her clothes.

Jesse Wisse
"Yeah Im not okay with being in my own blood just the blood of my enemies" She chuckled and was sat down. She helped him get her clothing off her and paused looking at the tub. Yeah this was the best place to have these kinds of conversations wasnt it? Seemed pretty familiar and apparently Alexander was learning. She started to help again "So. I wont ever argue with you in front of your people"

Alexander Blackwood
He paused as she said that, looking her over for a moment. "I don't expect you to stand meekly by if you don't agree with me on a course of action, Jess. I'm not a dictator - can't really be and keep a place like this running - and I would want to hear from you as much as anyone else."

Jesse Wisse
She turned and slid into the tub and moved forward a bit. Giving him a look and then undressing him with her eyes and then looked at the tub again. She reached forward to make sure the water would be hot.

"There is a difference between a arguement and having a better plan, or showing you where your plan may have a flaw. Im intelligent, and I am tactical. But whats more, is I wont argue with you though I will suggest. And frankly, if the shoe was on the other foot mate or not you argue with me under my command and I will shoot you. Arguing can and will get people killed. Suggestions..another matter.

But what I mean, Alexander is I am not going to argue with you about sitting still, or resting in front of your people. I am not going to take personal issues and argue in front of other people. Unless you start it. " She looked at her hands and then sighed "I...realize that I lost this last argument. I realized it the moment that I came to and had a bit of my mind spooled up. Sometimes, because of how freaking prideful i can be..it takes a action to cause me humility"

Alexander Blackwood
He smirked slightly at the look, taking a moment to get undressed and sliding into the tub behind her. He nodded quietly as she spoke, placing his hands on her shoulders and massaging them lightly. "I don't plan on doing that myself if I can help it. One thing I learned growing up is that you don't handle house business in the street, and I've kept to that."

"I understand pride pretty well, so I follow you there. Can take something catching you short before you notice what you're doing."

Jesse Wisse
She lifted water to her face and started to clean anything he may have missed including her neck, and then fingers. "I have to wonder how you learned that when you where growing up" She half smiled though and leaned back against him. There were several heart beats before she said "I am sorry. I was trying to show you that I wasn't easy prey even in this condition and forgotten that while we where doing that raid I did a lot of hot ...effects. When you go hot, you can get a lash like that and the residue of going hot stays for awhile. Where i am from, it was instant. You either took damage or what you where doing went weird. Here, it stays" She looked up behind her at him "I could have killed us"

Alexander Blackwood
"I grew up in the Bronx, remember?" He smirked a touch at that, grabbing a nearby washcloth and starting to wash her back as she focused on the front. "Was a pretty rough neighborhood at that point; still is, in some places."

"Ah...good to know." He nodded quietly, a note of concern clear as he filed that away. "You didn't, though, and you have an idea of what to watch for now, at least."

Jesse Wisse
"Ah yeah" She chuckled.

She was quiet as he scrubbed her back and finally said "No. But it was stupid of me and I need to not be stupid' she wet her lips and said "when you took me to dinner that night, I had a few memory bubbles pop up. Not much but one of them was a miscarriage. I dont particuarly know what happened but what I do know is that it broke my heart and I dont want to do that agian. " She looked over her shoulder at him agian "I dont want to do that to you. And I dont want to frighten you agian like that"

Alexander Blackwood
His eyebrows went up a bit at the mention of the memory, giving another small nod as she looked back to him. "I don't want that to happen again either, for either of our sakes."

"That's the first time I've come across something that our gifts couldn't heal when it happened." He looked to her at that. "Was worried I was going to lose you."

Jesse Wisse
She reached down around for his hands and pulled them around her. "If I am stupid with what I can do, you will. Or if I do it on purpose like Miles did. But, I have no intention on being dumb or running myself into the ground. Good thing about what I was, what I am...your ability is not the end all be all and you have other options before running yourself down" She pulled his arms tight in a kind of hug "You dont have to worry about me not thinking again when it comes to that"

Alexander Blackwood
He held her close as she wrapped his arms around her, nodding quietly before he rested his chin on her shoulder. "Good to hear. Part of why you have such a diverse personal toolkit, as it were?"

Jesse Wisse
"Yes. Adaptabiltiy is strength: Do not have preferences. There are cases where such things simply do not work. You, are the weapon. Not the sword, gun, or magic you carry. You are. We where taught how to fight on many levels and to survive because we do not settle in one area" She reached up and rubbed her eye before putting her hand down and on his again.

She sighed softly "the good news is we got to see our peanut"

Alexander Blackwood
"Good way to look at it. Identify, adapt and overcome and all that." He leaned over to kiss her cheek lightly, giving a little nod. "That we did, and she's doing just fine."

Jesse Wisse
She blinked and laughed "She? I take it you want a girl huh?"

Alexander Blackwood
"I'm fine with either, honestly. One of each isn't a bad thing, though."

Jesse Wisse
"And because there is a boy...a girl is in order huh?" She chuckled and reached up behind her to caress his cheek. "I think tomorrow I am going to stay home and rest. My mate has asked me to do so"

Alexander Blackwood
"About my thought, yes." He smiled, leaning into her touch. "And he appreciates that you're going to do so."

Jesse Wisse
The next part clearly nettled her "And he has also requested I NOT hunt vampires for a bit and I will be doing as he asks as well." She breathed in "I think we can go to bed now, Iam so very tired after that and Id like to just, curl up agianst you"

Alexander Blackwood
Sensing her discomfort he held her a bit closer, nodding quietly. "Sounds like a good idea to me."

After leaving a light kiss on the back of her neck he moved to stand from the tub, offering her a hand up if she needed it.

Jesse Wisse
She had to smile at the kiss and then took his hand and stood. She breathed in "but so help me by clashing boom booms gunfire they fuck with me agian and that lot is getting ashed then and there. But i wont hunt them" She stepped out of the tub and looked at him sheepishly "though I suspect a lot of my time will be spent here with you in the next few months"

Alexander Blackwood
He smirked at the declaration, offering her a towel before getting one for himself. "Most likely, yes..."

Jesse Wisse
"Well" She said resigned to it "At least I have someone handsome and sweet to keep me company" She started to move though her legs where still unsteady. "Come on you"

Alexander Blackwood
"Easy there, pilot..." He slid in beside her to make sure she stayed on her feet, guiding her towards the bedroom nearby. He looked to her with a small smile as he did so, though, taking her in. "Love you, Jess."

Jesse Wisse
She let him help her and chuckled at the pilot bit. Her smile widened "I love you too alex. Now lets get to bed.
